Abstract
THE USE OF CLUSTERING TECHNIQUE TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY OF RECOUNT TEXT AT SMP ALWASLIYAH BERASTAGI ABSTRACT Here, the researcher tries to use of clustering technique to teach the students to writing recount text and it is not effective technique in helping students to get idea in writing. The objective of the research is to describe and find out the use of clustering technique in writing recount text in eighth grade students in SMP Alwasliyah Berastagi.The data were gathered through Observation, test withpretest and posttest. The results of the study show that by doing clustering techniqueis not effective, the students’ ability in writing recount text improve just 2% in average from experimental class and control class. It can be proved from the increasing score in writing recount text. And this technique will be effective if the average from students score increase from 2% to 5%. Key word : Effectiveness, Clustering Technique, Recount Text Di sini, peneliti mencoba menggunakan teknik pengelompokan untuk mengajar siswa menulis teks recount dan teknik ini tidak efektif dalam membantu siswa mendapatkan ide dalam menulis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan dan mengetahui penggunaan teknik clustering dalam menulis teks recount pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Alwasliyah Berastagi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui Observasi, tes dengan pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan melakukan teknik clustering tidak efektif, kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks recount hanya meningkat rata-rata 2% dari kelas eksperimen dan control kelas. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan meningkatnya skor dalam menulis teks recount. Dan teknik ini akan efektif jika rata-rata nilai siswa naik dari 2% menjadi 5%.
