Abstract
ABSTRACT In this thesis the author analyzes the semantic features of English words meaning “GOOD-LOOKING”. Author use that Lehman describe namely gathering and evaluating data. Beautiful, handsome, fine, attractive, pretty, elegant, sexy, and cute are examples of English adjectives that indicate "good-looking." The goal of this study is to enhance the meanings of English adjectives that signify "GOOD-LOOKING" . The data used to find synonymy from the example adjectives above is based on variety of dictionary including Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary, Webster's Encyclopedic Unabridged Dictionary of the English Language, and Webster's New Twentieth Century Dictionary Unabridged . According to the findings of the study, the semantic features that give specific meaning to the English words meaning "GOOD-LOOKING" and differentiate them are the objects that are described. Understanding the definitions of English adjectives that imply "good-looking" is very essential and valuable since these groupings of words are used to express our feelings or thoughts about the quality of specific objects. In other words, knowing the correct meaning of these adjectives will allow us to make appropriate judgments or opinions about specific topics.
