Abstract

The problem studied in this thesis is training students' English vocabulary skills using the Audio Media listening method. This study aims to determine the impact of using audio media on junior high school students' English vocabulary skills. This study assesses whether including audio materials in English language teaching can improve students' vocabulary mastery. A mixed methods approach was used, including pre- and post-test measurements, classroom observations, and student surveys. This research involved a group of students at SMP Negeri 2 Berastagi who received English vocabulary teaching through audio media. The findings showed a significant increase in the students' vocabulary skills. In addition, students in class VIII-3 reported higher levels of engagement and motivation in learning English vocabulary through audio media. These results indicate that integrating audio media into English language teaching in junior high schools can be an effective strategy for improving students' vocabulary skills. The instrument used was a student observation sheet. Based on the results of research conducted by researchers with 2 test cycles, it can be concluded that the implementation of learning is categorized as good, student learning outcomes are classically complete and learning outcomes are further improved after using the effects of audio media on students' vocabulary abilities at SMP Negeri 2 Berastagi.
