The purpose of the study was to analyze the characteristics of the chemical properties of the soil on non-productive land due to the use of excess inorganic fertilizer for citrus plants in Suka Village, Tigapanah District, Karo Regency. This research was carried out in 3 stages: (1) the preparatory stage and preliminary survey (2) the main survey for taking soil samples (3) Laboratory analysis Preparation and Preliminary Survey Phase At this preparation stage, secondary data was collected regarding the location to be researched. A preliminary survey was conducted to determine the state of the research location in the field and to determine the sampling points. Main Survey and Soil Sampling Soil sampling was carried out on two land conditions, namely land with soil with a balanced use of fertilizer and land with excessive use of inorganic fertilizers. Laboratory analysis or soil analysis carried out at the Asian Agri R&D Center Laboratory of PT. Nusa Pusaka Kencana Baling Plantation. The chemical characteristics of the soil analyzed included pH, C-Organic, CEC, N-total, P-Available and K-dd. The results showed that the chemical characteristics of the soil on citrus L1 (Producing Land) were lands that were still producing well with the use of balanced agricultural chemicals that had a neutral soil pH value and content of CEC, C-organic, N-total and K-dd with the criteria Meanwhile, P-Total and P-Available with very high criteria. The chemical characteristics of the soil on citrus L2 (Non-Producing Land) are land that is no longer producing well due to the use of excessive agricultural soil chemicals with a pH with slightly acidic criteria. Meanwhile, CEC, C-Organic, N-Total, P-Total, P -Available low and very low criteria.
