Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the adoption of technology by rice farmers and (2) analyze the level of technology adoption by farmers in the rice productivity improvement program in Pegagan Julu VI Village, Sumbul District, Dairi Regency. The sampling method used was simple random sampling, and data were collected through direct interviews with 30 rice farmers. Data collection used was primary and secondary data. The data analysis technique used was the Rating Scale formula. The level of innovation adoption by rice farmers in Pegagan Julu VI Village, Sumbul District, Dairi Regency is categorized as high. The adoption of technologies such as tractors, organic fertilizers, inorganic fertilizers, pesticides, superior varieties, harvesting machines, and rice threshers has been carried out by rice farmers in Pegagan Julu VI Village, Sumbul District, Dairi Regency. The adoption of this technology in farming can affect productivity. The partial level of technology adoption for the rice paddy productivity improvement program in Pegagan Julu VI Village, Sumbul District, Dairi Regency, based on the research results, includes three stages categorized as high: assessment, trial, and acceptance, and two stages: awareness and interest categorized as medium. Simultaneously, the level of farmer adoption for all stages of technology adoption is categorized as high, with an average value of 2.41.
