Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of compost and magnesium sulfate on the growth of potato plants G2 (Solanum Tuberosum L), to determine the ratio of doses of compost and magnesium sulfate to potato plants G2 (Solanum tuberosum L) and magnesium sulfate to plant growth of potato G2 (Solanum tuberosum L). This research was carried out in Lingga Village, Simpang Empat District, Karo Regency at an altitude of + 1,200 m above sea level. This study used a factorial randomized block design (RAK) method consisting of two (2) factors, namely Composting with the symbol "K" which consisted of 4 levels with each treatment namely K0 = 0, K1 = 25 gr, K2 = 50 gr, K3 = 75 gr, and K4 = 100 gr, and the second factor is Magnesium sulfate "M" which consists of 4 treatment levels, namely M0 = 0 , M1 = 5 gr ,M2 = 10 gr, M3 = 15 gr, and M4 = 20 gr. so that 25 treatments were obtained with 2 replications, then analysis of variance and F test level 5% was carried out. The results of this study were that the K3 value was significantly different from K0, K1, and K2, but not significantly different from K4. The largest average plant growth was found in the K3 treatment so that the application of compost (K) 75 g was the optimum treatment in the study, which was 35.8 cm. on the bar circle with K4 significantly different from K0 and K1 but not significantly different from K2 and K3.
