KARAKTERISASI SIFAT FISIK UMBI WORTEL VARIETAS GUNDALING

Abstract

Carrot germplasm of the Gundaling variety is a variety that is widely cultivated Karo Regency. This variety is an orange type of carrot with large pith. Lingga village is one of the carrot producing centers in Simpang Empat subdistrict. In general, carrot contain of carotenoids, which are good supplement for health. Proximate analysis of fresh carrot consists of water, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, vitamins and pectin. The Gundaling variety is one of the superior varieties that has been certified and recognized by the government. The shape, size, weight and color of the tubers are part of the physical characteristics of carrot. In this study, measurements only made on tuber length, pith length, tuber weight,  tuber and pith diameter at the base, middle and tip of the tuber in the categories of large, medium and small. Based on the research results, it is known that the length of tubers in the large, medium and small categories is 18.14 cm, 14.70 cm and 11.31 cm respectively. The average weight of tubers in the large category is 136.8 grams, medium tubers weigh 83.5 grams, and small tubers weigh 44.9 grams. The diameter of the pith is half the diameter of the tuber as a whole.
