Abstract

The aim of this research was to examine the influence of interest in reading on the academic achievement of fourth grade students at SD Negeri 027089 Binjai City in Social Sciences (IPS) subjects. This research uses a quantitative methodology using correlation analysis. The population and sample of this research amounted to 29 students. The research variables in question were interest in reading as the independent variable and social studies learning outcomes as the dependent variable. Data collection techniques include the use of questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis includes the use of descriptive analysis, normality tests, linearity tests, and correlation tests. The results of research using Pearson product moment correlation show that the correlation between reading interest and learning outcomes gives a result of 0.547 with a significance level of 0.004 <0.05, which shows that there is a positive and significant influence of reading interest on the fourth student's social studies learning outcomes. -class students at SDN 027089 Binjai City.
